This Air Fryer Hot Chicken Strip recipe is great for a quick, easy, and delicious meal. And… it’s fairly HEALTHY!?! Seems too good to be true… but it’s true. I have perfected the sauce to have just the perfect amount of spice, flavor, sweetness, and zest. The honey balances out the heat from the hot sauce. The garlic and paprika give the buffalo flavor a new life. The hint of lemon will have you craving more.
I like throwing this recipe into a lunch in the middle of the week every now and then. It is a great flavor mix up and sure beats a regular sandwich. It is also great for a lunch because you can prep almost all of it ahead of time. Once it is time to actually make it, you just coat the chicken, throw it in the air fryer, and pour on your sauce after. You can pair it with rice, or go the fries and biscuits route. It gives you the feeling of eating chicken strips, but without the oil and with a lot of fun flavor. Not to mention that crushing up corn flakes and adding them is kind of fun! Go ahead, makes these delicious strips and see for yourself!
Equipment You’ll Need:
You will need an air fryer for this recipe.
Ingredients You’ll Need:
For this Air Fryer Hot Chicken Strip recipe you will need:
• 12 ounces chicken breast
• 2 tablespoons Frank’s Red Hot Wings Sauce
• 1/2 teaspoon paprika
• 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
• Salt
• Pepper
• 2 cups corn flakes
• 1/2 cup Frank’s Red Hot Wings Sauce
• 2 tablespoons honey
• 1 teaspoon lemon juice
How to Make Air Fryer Hot Chicken Strips:
Step 1. Start by spraying your air fryer with nonstick spray. Set it to “Air Crisp” or “Air Fry”, depending on what air fryer you have, and put the temperature to 350F.
Step 2. Cut up you chicken breast into strips. I like to do them about 2 inches wide and only about 1/2 inch thin. You may need to use a meat mallet to make them thinner, depending on how you are cutting them.
Step 3. Grab a bowl and add 2 tablespoons Frank’s hot sauce, 1/2 teaspoon paprika, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Stir it up.
Step 4. Add your chicken strips to the bowl and mix them until they are fully covered in your sauce.
Step 5. Add 2 cups of corn flakes to a large container or bowl and crush them. You may even want to crush them in a Ziploc bag before adding them to the plate for less mess. They do not need to be fully crushed. Some larger pieces should remain.
Step 6. Take your chicken strips one by one from the sauce and press them into your crushed corn flakes. Flip to get both sides covered.
Step 7. Add these chicken strips to your air fryer and set the time to 10 minutes. If they cook for any longer, the corn flakes will start to burn.
Step 8. In a new bowl, add 1/2 cup of Frank’s sauce, 2 tablespoons of honey, and 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice. Stir to mix.
Serve Ranch for dipping and either white jasmine rice or with a biscuit and fries.
What To Do With The Leftovers:
Storing:
This will may well in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
Reheating:
If you have leftovers, reheat them in the air fryer or oven to return some of their crispiness. Try it on 350F for 8 minutes.
Meal Prepping:
Prep both of your sauces, crush your corn flakes, and cut your chicken into strips ahead of time. The rest should be done right before eating.

I made this for the first time for my household and it’s turned out perfectly!! Served with a side of Jasmine rice and green leafy salad. I should have made more because everyone wanted second helpings🤩 A definite keeper. A note for those who might want less spicy hot, I set out alternative dipping sauces, such as Ranch salad dressing. Thank you for this recipe!! Your recipes are helping me get out of a cooking rut!
