I have amazing news for you. The days of egg peeling pain are over. Having the peel stick to the egg, break, pull off parts of the egg, leave that weird little layer that sticks to the egg. You never have to deal with these things ever again. This Easy Peel Hard Boiled Egg recipe will give you your new go-to method for boiling eggs.
I have to give credit where credit is due. My husband is the one who taught me to boil eggs this way.
I used to use the more common method of placing the eggs in the water before they were boiling and it the peel would stick every time. I would sometimes pull out my entire instant pot and go through that whole process just to get eggs that peeled a little more easily. With the recipe, the shell practically just slides right off of the egg, every time. That is why this method is life changing!
It really is very simple. Instead of adding the eggs before you boil your water, you add them when the water is already boiling. I have broken down the details here, but that is really all that it comes down to. One little change and boom. Magic!
Ingredients You’ll Need:
For Easy Peel Hard Boiled Eggs you will need:
• Water
• A pinch of salt to help with boiling
• Eggs
• Ice cubes to quickly to the eggs from cooking further and cool them off to peel.
How to Make Easy Peel Hard Boiled Eggs:
Step 1. Grab a large pot and fill it with about 3 inches of room temperature water and a pinch of salt. Set it on high heat and cover until it is boiling. Make sure your pot is big enough that all of the eggs are touching the bottom without piling on top of each other.
Step 2. Once the water is boiling, carefully lower your desired number of eggs into the pot. I find that a large, slotted spoon is the best way to do this.
Step 3. Cover the pot again and boil for 6-12 minutes based on how cooked you want them. You will want different levels of hardness based on personal preference and on what you are making. Hard boiled is great for eating by themselves or dicing mixing into a salad. Soft boiled is a good option for putting them on top of toast or adding them to ramen.
Step 4. When the time is close to being done on your eggs, grab a bowl and add some cold water and ice.
Step 5. When the time is done, carefully add your eggs to the ice using the slotted spoon from before. It is important to do this right away or the egg will continue to cook for a while. Leave the eggs in the ice water until they are fully cooled. I usually let them be for about 10 minutes.
Pro Tips:
Follow this guide for how long to boiled your eggs:

– A great way to peel the shell it to tap/crack the egg on each end, roll it firmly on a counter to crack evenly, and then peel. – If there is a green layer around the yolk, you have cooked it for too long. – If your eggs are cracking in the water, take them out of the fridge about an hour before you cook them. This will let them come to room temperature and greatly reduce the risk of any cracks when they hit the water.
What To Do With The Leftovers:
Storing:
These may store safely in the refrigerator for up to seven days. I would recommend storing them in a tight sealed container to avoid having your whole fried smell like eggs.
