These Nutter Butter Babies are one of the cutest, easiest, and yummiest treats that you can bring to a baby shower! They are so fun and quick to make, and everyone will be impressed with this homemade treat. The white chocolate truly elevates the nutter butters and they are surprisingly super delicious! I make these for any and every baby shower. You just can’t go wrong!
Equipment You’ll Need:
A double boiler is helpful here, but if you do not have, the instructions will walk you through how to create one with regular pots.
Ingredients You’ll Need:
Active Time: 20 minutes
For this Nutter Butter Baby recipe you will need:
- 1 16 oz pack of Nutter Butter Cookies – 32 cookies total
- 1 12 oz bag of white chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
- Food coloring – You an use red to make pink for a girl, blue for a boy, or whatever color you want!
- Black icing – For the eyes and hair. Find one with a small tip for precise piping.
Copy and paste ingredient list. Add dashes with additional info on things you can substitute or just more info like what it adds to the dish. Also include info about thawing and such and where you can find specialty ingredients.
How to Make Nutter Butter Babies:
Step 1. Start by melting the 12 ounces of white chocolate along with the 1 tablespoon of coconut oil in a double boiler. If you do not have a double boiler, see the Pro Tips section below on how to make one with pots and pans.
Step 2. Stir the chocolate, and once it is mostly melted, turn the heat off entirely and stir until fully melted. This method will keep the chocolate smooth as it will not be over heated. Now you can add the food coloring of your choice until it is at your desired color.
Step 3. Line a tray with parchment paper and begin dipping your nutter butters. Grab the top of the cookie, dip, and angle the top in the melted chocolate on each side to make the appearance of a blanket swaddle. Set the cookie on the parchment paper to cool. Repeat for each cookie.
Step 4. Once all of the cookies are chocolate coated, lightly dip the edge of a spatula in the chocolate, and use it to make diagonal line on each cookie to give the appearance of the edge of the blanket.
Step 5. Use your black with a thin tip to create a swirl at the top of each cookie and 2 eyes.
Step 6. Allow your cookies to sit for at least 1 hour, or over night to fully cool.
Enjoy!
Pro Tips:
How to make a double boiler: Use a larger pot for the bottom boiler, and a smaller pot or heat safe glass for the top boiler. Make sure the top boiler is small enough to fit in the bottom boiler, but large enough to be suspended at least 2 inches from the bottom of it. Add 2 inches of water to the bottom boiler/pot, bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and add the top boiler/pot along with the chocolate chips and tablespoon coconut oil.
Using coconut oil in your chocolate will help it to melt more smoothly and will make it softer and shinier when it dries on your strawberries.
It is important to not let your chocolate get too hot when melting, or it will become thick, stiff, and not as smooth. Prevent this by not allowing the top pot of your double boiler to touch the hot water, and but using the lowest heat you can that still allows the chocolate to melt.
If you do not have a stove, you can melt your chocolate in the microwave. Add the chocolate chips and oil to a bowl and microwave in 30 second increments, stirring well in between, until it is fully melted.
What To Do With The Leftovers:
Storing:
Store these in an air tight container at room temperature.
